Meet the mangosteen

A revolutionary fruit about the size of a tangerine, the tropical delicacy known as “the queen of fruits” represents a class of superfruits known for their powerful antioxidant properties. The mangosteen fruit is also one of the only natural anti-inflammatories, offering a natural alternative to anti-inflammatory drugs with harmful side effects.

What is scientific research saying about mangosteen?

Pain & Inflammation
Gamma-Mangostin inhibits inhibitor-kB Kinase activity and decreases Lipopolysaccharide-induced Cyclooxygenase-2 gene expression in C6 rat glioma cells. Department of Pharmaceutical Molecular Biology, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan (K.N., T.Y., N.K., Y.O.); Central Laboratory, Lotte Co., Ltd., Saitama, Japan (T.A., K.O., S.S.); and Department of Pharamacology, National Cardiovascular Center Research Institute, Osaka, Japan (H.I.)

Gamma-Mangostin, a xanthone found in the mangosteen fruit, was demonstrated to inhibit and decrease COX-2 enzyme expression. The COX-2 enzyme, when present in the body, is responsible for pain and inflammation.

Cancer
Garcinone E, a xanthone derivative, has potent cytotoxic effect against the patocellular carcinoma cell lines. Planta Med. 2002 Nov;68(11):975-9. Ho CK, Huang YL, Chen CC. Department of Medical Research & Education, Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, ROC.

The results showed that one of the xanthone derivatives which could be identified as garcinone E has potent cytotoxic effect (kill cells) on all liver cancer cell lines as well as on the other gastric and lung cancer cell lines.

What are people saying about mangosteen?

I started on mangosteen juice on a Tuesday evening. By Friday evening [in that same week], I had no evidence of my atopic dermatitis or eczema! Hurray! Now, my eczema is of recent onset. It showed up in December 2002. Prior to that I’d only had short occasional bouts with it, requiring no visits to the doctor. This time I finally went to the physician and received a prescription for Eucerin and a corticosteroid. I decided not to fill it, because I learned of the juice that day. I thought I’d see if mangosteen could help the eczema, and it did!

Hi My name is Cathy and I started drinking the Mangosteen juice in September of 2005 for ‘general health’ reasons.

I had been having hot flashes and night sweats for over a year. I have not had even one occasion since September. It is now the end of January and I tell you the improvements I have seen are so awesome that it continues to amaze me. I used to take pain 3 ibuprofen at least twice a day; since starting the juice I have only used it 3 time total and two of those times were when I was flying and the pressure in the plane was terrible.

I would highly recommend this product for anyone.

Cathy
